Who is Palaver?

Palaver is the real-time, on demand, language translation app, helping people to instantly, accurately and easily communicate in over 30 different languages, across many media.

What does Palaver mean?

Although Palaver’s name routes into the historical meaning described above, in everyday use a palaver is an unnecessarily elaborate or complex procedure.

When two people are confronted with a language barrier but wish to communicate with each other, they’ve used a variety of hit-and-miss methods to make themselves understood. Speaking slower or raising voices (we’ve all done it) has very limited reward. Waving arms or describing something with hand movements may help to elevate basic communication; and finding a translator in the form of a real person or a piece of technology can be helpful, although time consuming. Then of course there is the option to improve the ability to communicate by learning new languages.

But for most people it’s all a palaver. There’s that word again.

We set out to remove the language barriers, the long-winded communication processes, and the arm waving with AI technology which translates languages in real time. By removing what many would describe as a ‘palaver’ our technology enables people to have instantly translated phone calls, text messages, and enjoy translation on demand – wherever and whenever they need it.
